The History of the Sundance Festival
This iconic Park City film festival actually began in Salt Lake City. It only expanded to Park City in 1981, when the event was rebranded as the US Film and Video Festival. In 1984, the Sundance Institute took over management, and in 1991, the Sundance Film Festival was born. There have been iterations held in London, Hong Kong, and the Brooklyn Academy of Music. However, true fans of the artform will insist that the original Sundance is the best. It’s held every year at the end of January until the beginning of February.
